Il a un comportement semblable à son compère le cygne tuberculé au plumage blanc (Voir la page sur le cygne tuberculé).</div> <div>La femelle pond de 5 à 6 oeufs qu'elle couve jusqu'à 40 jours.</div> <div>Les petits portent un duvet grisatre à la naissance; les plumes deviennent ensuite brunâtres.</div> <div>Le cygne acquiert la couleur noire à l'âge d'un an.</div> <div>Ils se rencontrent de plus en plus dans les parcs zoologiques dans lesquels ils se reproduisent sans difficulté.</div>
